Aconbury Church
It is believed the ghost of Sir Roger De Clifford became so troublesome that it was entrapped within a bottle and buried under his monument.
But what is particularly creepy is the urban legend of a reaper type figure, possibly Sir Roger, who is said to walk the area. Locals feel to be touched by the hooded shade is an indication the witness shall die within the year.

AVENBURY
St Mary's Church
In the 1920s the last vicar told a newspaper about a musical ghost which played the organ. Sadly, the church, at one of the most important religious sites in Herefordshire, closed in 1931. The bells and chalice, the huge parish chest and other treasures were dispersed. The Avenbury Knight, a 13th effigy on a stone slab can be seen in Bromyard church. Despite now residing in London-rehung by the Wardrobe in the belfry of St Andrews- it is believed locals occasionally hear the Church bells ring, along with the sound of the organ playing despite the buildings ramshackle, derelict status. A heaviness embraces the area within the circle of trees and wooden fence, just paces from a nearby stream, said to have once contained a buried, secret box, under a now forgotten bridge. With other stories aligned to witchcraft, this isnt a place for the faint hearted. Maybe not paranormal, but the rapid decay of this building is astonishing when you consider how castles have withstood the test of time better than this building. There is also a degree of sadness when you see the unkept gravestones of the loved ones belonging to yesteryear.
